Hotel Switch / 'Your hotel burned down'

What happens: Taxi/auto driver claims your booked hotel is closed, burned, overbooked, or in a 'riot zone'. Drives you to a partner hotel paying 30–50% commission. Currently most active at IGI Airport T3 (after midnight arrivals) and New Delhi Railway Station.
How to avoid: Call hotel directly before leaving terminal. Use only Uber/Ola or pre-paid taxi from the official airport counter. Never accept driver's verbal claim about your hotel — verify.
Fake Government Tourist Office

What happens: Fake offices with 'Govt. of India Tourism' signage sell inflated tour packages, fake train tickets, or non-existent hotel bookings. The real India Tourism office is at 88 Janpath Road, Delhi. Real IRCTC International Tourist Bureau is on the 1st floor of New Delhi Railway Station only.
How to avoid: Only book via incredibleindia.gov.in, irctc.co.in, or known platforms (MakeMyTrip, Booking.com). Never follow a 'helpful' stranger to an office. Verify location on Google Maps with reviews.
